The latest updates Tech News to the Amazon Prime Video apps now brings support for HD video streaming on the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro.

It has been almost six months since Xiaomi launched the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro in India, and the phone has been one of the bestsellers in the premium categories, according to research from Canalys. Part of its success may have to do with its notch-less and narrow bezel display that's among the best on the market. Sadly, the Redmi K20 phones didn't ship with support for HD video playback on Amazon Prime Video. However, the issue is now fixed.

In the latest app update of Amazon Prime Video, the support for HD videos playback has been rolled out for both the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. Hence, Prime Video subscribers will now be able to watch all HD resolution content on these phones in full resolution. The Redmi K20 series can support a maximum resolution of Full HD+ and that means users can watch all 1080p content on these phones. Amazon Prime Video can also stream content 4K resolution.

The update is being rolled in phases and users need to check for updates to the Amazon Prime Video app on the Google Play Store. Hence, it could be a while before you can start streaming videos in HD resolution.

The Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro have been on Xiaomi's priority list when it comes to software updates this year. Both of the Redmi K20 models have been Xiaomi's flagship offerings in India, offering the best of what Xiaomi has to offer. Both the phones are running on the latest MIUI 11 based on Android 10. The Redmi K20 Pro is the most powerful phone from the company, flaunting a Snapdragon 855 chipset and backed by a 4000mAh battery. The phone also gets a very narrow-bezel display with no notch on the top. The Redmi K20 only differs with a Snapdragon 730 chipset.

However, Xiaomi has already revealed the successor to the Redmi K20 in China recently in the form of the Redmi K30. The Redmi K30 brings some drastic upgrades over the Redmi K20 in the form of a Snapdragon 730G chip for the 4G version and a Snapdragon 765G chip for the 5G variant. Xiaomi also offers a 120Hz refresh rate display and a new quad-camera system. There's no announcement of a Redmi K30 Pro as of now.
